Hi All,
I am new here and was wondering whether anyone else self cathertises and has had an infection from it.
My husband had a very high temp a week ago and it made him delirious and aggravated his MS syptoms regards not being able to walk. He had a course of antibiotics and is now up and about and on the road to recovery.
It was very frightening for my son and I as we had to lift him. Hygiene is paramount when we do it, I say we cathertise as he has tremors in his hand and it makes it difficult for him.

Look forward to your replies.

Hi there,
I too have been self catheterising for the past year and a half. the alcohol hand wash is the best i think....shame ya can’t drink it.
ps, has anyone had botox injections in the bladder yet? i know it’s still quite new but it’s fantastic! for 10 mins of discomfort u get months of relief.

Thanks to you all.
Since this date hubby has had no luck in the antibiotics working. Yeta agin today another 7 day course given.
I was using the alcohol wash and now use gloves which are disposable.

Hubby said he ner had this when he just had the urine retention and no catheter.

Hi all,
I tried to catheterize myself but couldn’t manage it due to the loss of my fine motor control in my hands.

In the end I made a choice to have a stoma. This was and is much easier for my hands. I have not regretted my decision and am glad that I made the decision because of the independance I experience.
