Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

This is offered at many charity-run centres around the UK and involves sitting in a pressure chamber and breathing pressurised oxygen through a mask. Sessions take an hour and are needed 3-4 times a month. It has many devotees, who say it helps relieve various symptoms including fatigue and bladder problems. Some say it helps their balance or walking. Research studies on hyperbaric oxygen have been mixed and most have been unable to measure any effect on the disease process. Details of treatment centres are available from the Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre.
