Problems with Balance and Co-ordination
Another common symptom at the onset of MS is weakness or clumsiness in a limb, usually a leg. The foot begins to drag, and the person may find they are limping or falling over frequently. In many people the problem disappears between relapses or settles down as a slight limp or lack of co-ordination in the affected limb. Others develop more serious problems with walking, their movement becoming jerky and unstable (ataxia). Ataxia can also affect the arms, making them difficult to control. Sometimes a limb becomes shaky (tremor).
Loss of balance and/or feelings of giddiness (vertigo) are another fairly common experience. They tend to be worse in the dark.
