Bladder and Bowel Problems
Bladder and Bowel Problems
Bladder problems will affect about three-quarters of people with MS at some time or another, and can be one of the most distressing aspects of the disease. People may need to pass water more frequently, or experience sudden feelings of urgency. Sometimes the bladder does not empty itself completely. Urinary incontinence can occur due to lack of nervous control or because of overflow.
Constipation can be a problem as the disease progresses. Bowel incontinence is rare except in severe, advanced MS.
