Fatigue

Fatigue is one of the most troublesome aspects of MS for many people, and can be severe and debilitating. It is different from normal fatigue as it involves the nervous system as well as the muscles. The sensory nerves can also get fatigued, bringing on blurred vision or numbness. Tiredness may strike at unpredictable times and be out of proportion with what you have been doing. Activities that were once easy can be exhausting, and it will probably be necessary to adapt your lifestyle. Overdoing it can make symptoms worse or cause old symptoms to reappear. Getting too hot – due to exercise, a hot bath or hot, humid weather – actually affects the way the nerves conduct signals, and is a common cause of fatigue.
