Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy or another form of exercise programme may be helpful after a relapse to restore as much of the lost functioning as possible. During remissions, physiotherapy, stretching or co-ordination exercises can help keep the body functioning to its maximum potential. Your GP can refer you to a physiotherapist, or you can consult one privately. Some physiotherapists specialise in neurological conditions; many of the MS Therapy Centres are run as independent charities, and offer group classes led by neurologically trained physiotherapists. The Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre can provide a list of such centres.
